So when she gets an email from Celeste Chastain, the world's most renowned perfumer who could make or break you if she reviews you, and she says she wants to see your shop and your perfumes and creative ability in creations, you are excited and nervous. One bad review and you might as well close up shop. However, one good review and a purchase of the rights to one of your perfumes and you are made for life in the business. Extremely punctual, Celeste and her assistant Fleur arrive at the airport, hire a car and come directly to Nati's store. Nati and Owen, her boyfriend, if she would let him in, straightened up the shop so it was presentable and Celeste seemed impressed. Then she gave Nati a challenge to make her scent. As Celeste watched, Nati set to work. Was it right Was it perfect? Will this sink her business or help? Celeste seemed happy and told Nati she would return the next day with her report. When she didn't return and her assistant, Fleur who Owen seems to have taken to Nati's boyfriend? Was it too one sided on Nati's part, that Owen lost interest?), gets a call that Celeste has been murdered. Nati couldn't believe it! Gone is her chance to "make it" and then Fleur gets arrested for Celeste's murder and Owen is convinced of her innocence and although Nati feels a little jealous she decides to investigate with Owen. Is Fleur a murderer? What is Fleur's secret? Is her friend Jenny who runs the hotel Celeste was staying in? The story takes you through lots of twists and turns and misclues. I can't wait for more! The characters are likeable and real and of course who can forget Nati's bulldog, Sal who plays an integral part in both book one and book two. And what about Nati and Owen does he still feel the same about her? What about Nati's shop, will she be able to maintain it? I love the surprise ending and the series so far, can't wait for more! - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Fraxinus -- A signature scent to die for.... : I love the premise of this book, Nati is a nose, a trained perfumer who can create perfumes that mimic's a person's scent and with her dog Sal, she uses this incredibly unique talent to solve mysteries. However, living in a small town in Washington state, does not lend itself to a lot of walk-in clientelle and the world has not invented smell-o-vision yet, so Nati jumps at the chance to work with the extremely prickly Celeste Chastain-- a brilliant perfumer out of France. Ms. Chastain, travels the world looking for talent. Unfortunately, when Celeste's body is found nearby--poisoned by her signature scent no less--Nati must find the true killer.
