:- 1.0 out of 5 stars from s. berger -- Misleading "Look Inside" view : the text refers to figures that are not included in the text but are displayed in "look inside" giving the buyer a misinformed idea of what will be received. the accompanying photo which is in the "look inside" is actually NOT in the book. I returned the book and will continue looking for a copy with the figures as part of the text. Moreover, the table of contents indicates the book is 326 pages but the publisher's note indicates that this book has less content. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2016 )

- 1.0 out of 5 stars from s. berger -- PAGES BLACKENED OUT. DO NOT BUY : Not really a book as much as a extremely poor photocopy of the pages that were never reviewed for clarity. Half the pages are blackened out so that you cannot see any type - see photos. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2016 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Leland E. G. Larson -- Charles Darwin, humble genius : This last book of his is so awesome, shows the scientific method in action, with simple, understandable words. And, it covers more than "worms" but the worm parts are fascinating--did you know they can "think" and make decisions? Do you know why ancient monuments are buried? ETC. It is short, highly readable and I've purchased tons of this book over the year for friends interested in nature, curious about the world, of which you have an amazing creature nearby right by your back yard. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from EPC48 -- An insight into Darwins true skills as a brilliant scientist. : To some this must be the ultimate in the least interesting sounding subject imaginable; akin maybe to books on Russian bus shelters! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 14, 2019 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Jackie M -- Wow — this man was amazing. : Wow — this man was amazing. I've read a few books by Charles Darwin but this one really highlights the lengths he went to in order to observe and record his findings in such meticulous detail. As a gardener I have an interest in earthworms so perhaps this book appeals to me more than to a lot of people. But I think this book is fascinating and I highly recommend it. - 2.0 out of 5 stars from Fat Dad -- disappointed : this book lacks the illustrations that you need in order to fully understand the text. We sent it back and got the more functional but less impressive-looking paperback. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 28, 2013 )
- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Pip Squeak -- Figures missing : The book would be great but for the fact the publisher has failed to include any of Darwin's diagrams/pictures/figures that should be in the book. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 6, 2003 )
